Dear2050: Entangled Forests

The exhibition takes us from the last primeval forests of Europe to the depths of the Amazon, explores ghost forests from the past and speculates about autonomous trees of the future. What do forests tell us about life and death, transience and memory, compassion and identity?

Forests are the most species-rich habitats on earth. They cover a third of the planet’s land surface and are home to more than three quarters of all living creatures on land. As a huge network of interconnections between millions of life forms and as an important carbon sink, they make an indispensable contribution to preserving biodiversity and regulating the global climate.

The group exhibition was created in collaboration with the EPFL’s Plant Ecology Research Lab (PERL) in Lausanne. The research group investigates the ecological adaptation processes of plants under climatic stress.

The opening of the traveling exhibition “Dear2050: Entangled Forests” will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 14:00 – 17:00 with a live performance by artist Maja Renn “The Canopy Kin”. Drinks and snacks will be served. Admission free of charge.
